Getting started

From signup to your first tracked hour, in about five minutes.

1. Create an account

Sign up with your name, email, and a password. WorkingClock sends a verification link to that email address, so use one you can check right away — you will need to confirm it before you can sign in. If you were invited to an existing organization, use the invite link instead; it skips straight to setting your password.

If nobody invited you, signing up creates a brand-new organization automatically, with you as its owner. There is nothing else to configure at this step — you can rename the organization later from Settings.

2. Start your first timer

The Tracker page is the home screen after you sign in. Type what you are working on, optionally pick a project, and press start. The timer runs in the tab title too, so you can check elapsed time without switching back.

Stop the timer when you are done, or edit the entry afterward if you forgot to start it on time — you can adjust the start and end time, or the description, on any entry you own. Prefer typing a duration instead of watching a clock run? You can add a manual entry with an explicit start and end time from the same page.

3. Set up projects

Projects group related time entries together — a client engagement, an internal initiative, whatever makes sense for how you bill or report on your work. Create one from the Projects page, optionally attach it to a client, and give it a color so it is easy to scan in the tracker and in reports. Tags work alongside projects for finer-grained labels that cut across them (like “meeting” or “bug”).

See Organizing your work for the full picture of how projects, tasks, tags, and clients fit together.

4. Check your first report

Once you have a few entries logged, open Reports and filter by date range, project, or team member to see where the time went. From there you can export a CSV — free on every plan — or a formatted PDF summary on paid plans.

5. Share what matters

Need to show a client their project's hours without giving them a full seat on your team? Project sharing generates a read-only link scoped to a single project, so they can see progress without needing an account at all.
